LOSS Team Volunteer

The Andrews Center is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to join our newly established Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

The LOSS team itself is comprised of mental health professionals and people with lived experience of suicide. A team of two, one from each category, goes to the site of a suicide to provide support to the families while the first responders do what they need to do. The LOSS team members who go to the scene of the death provides resources to the family, as well as follow up care.

Volunteers who are not mental health professionals or who do not have lived experience may help the team in other ways - like attending events to boost awareness and recruit other volunteers, educate first responders about the LOSS team, send cards, letters, or conduct follow up calls to check on the survivors.

Since suicide survivors have an increased risk of suicide, this team is an essential part of our community and helps to prevent further deaths by suicide by giving postvention support.
